Let's Take A Look At Mr Jim Walden

Mr Jim Walden : 

• Is a former democrat who quit the party in 2006 when Republican George Bush was in power. He has floated joining the Republican Party but didn't he claims because of Donald Trump
  
• Support's Israel's attempt at Genocide and has defamed Opposition to it 
  
• Worked to help Donald Trump - trying to cut down the Democratic Party vote by originally supporting Independent RFK Jr in New York (currently the Trump administration's health secretary)
• Say's New York's Best Mayor Ever was Billionaire Republican Mr Bloomberg
• On economics he has called socialist's terrible but has also accused those who are not socialist of being so. - It appears Walden, like many in American politics, has no understanding of different economic terms.
• Supports increasing the numbers of police officers (Critics say the police need heavy reform, not more cops)
• Supports Dropping out and sending his supporters to Sex Pest Andrew Cuomo if Cuomo is polling 1st or 2nd
  

However, Mr Walden is new to politics as such, before we take a look at some of his Unique Policy's let's take a look at his previous job : Lawyer for hire.

Walden is a lawyer from New York City who has worked for the government and who has represented a long list of private clients, including :

1. Far Right Irish Fascist Conor McGregor, who in 2018 broke into and assaulted a fellow MMA Athletes bus. (Jim Walden has continued to celebrate Mr Mcgregor even after Mr McGregor was found Liable for Rape)  
   
2. A Banking Executive in 2010 after the Financial Crash
3. A Maintenance Company for Harassment and Failure to Maintain Property
   
4. A Tech Executive in a Stock Manipulation Case
5. A Car Parts Company In A Price Fixing Scandal    
   
6. An Illegal Gambling Ring King Pin
7. Tether, a cryptocurrency long used by criminals when it was sued by customers
8. Anti Bike lane lobby in New York (Twice)
9.  Illegal Position of a Gun by a Famous Celebrity   

It seems historically Walden focuses on celebrity and big business defense even when they are guilty of horrific and highly damaging crimes.

He has however also represented some less terrible clients

1. An Anti-Slap Suit Regarding Defamation
2. Drafted Legislation to protect bodily autonomy for women in America outside NY 
   
3. Protected A Whistleblower into voting interference operations in the UK and USA
4. Filed Lawsuit to protect NYC renters from toxic public housing
5. Sued to stop employment discrimination of a minority group's by a business
   
6. Sued for persons illegally denied food stamps  
   
7. Protection For A Former Trump Staffer Whose Office Correctly Claimed The 2020 Presidential Election Was Lost By Donald Trump

Now we move to his Policies that are Unique from the top polling candidate, Mr Zohran Mandani. While the two do share some policies there are a few that Walden has for himself,  We will take 15 :

1. Increasing Spending On Police and Increasing Police Patrol Numbers  (Mandani supports increased spending on experts in dealing with issues like mental health for such episodes)
2. Abolishing the civilian oversight board on police
3. Supports Making Criticisms of the state of Israel a human rights violation
4. Supports Scrapping New York City's Congestion pricing
   
5. Making the education system of NYC more pro the state of Israel
   
6. Allowing Immigration and Customs Enforcement to get around New York's Sanctuary city protection by arresting criminals. (Critics point out that ice has been caught faking criminal charges to arrest people and arresting people who are legal us residences)
7. Supports Rent Subsidy Rather Than Rent Freezes (Critics point out that this is a Landlord support not a renters support and that money would be better spent building and acquiring property)
8. Supports Rehiring workers fired for not obeying public safety laws
9. Support's Cutting government program's to raise money under "Efficiency" (Critics point out that many budgets have already been cut to the bone and further cut's would only make the city's problems worse)     
10. Supports Deregulation
11. Supports Donald Trump's Baby account plan on a local level that invests money for kids to access when they reach 18 (Critics point out that this will be subject to the same pressures and risks as pensions and could lead to Wall Street raiding a practice were financial institutions sell bad assets to corrupt or inexperienced financial managers)
12. Supports bail reform that keeps people in jail for minor crimes (Critics point out that this will keep some people in jail for longer then they would have gone to prison due to trial delays it will also increase false guilty pleas as people are forced into more plea bargains)
13. Supports making face covering's illegal at protests (This is just authoritarian)
14. Supports stronger Rape prevention and punishment systems (Critics point out that his monitoring plan could lead to an invasion of privacy, but otherwise it's fine)  
15. Support's Anti Vaccine people in their "Right to choose"

Walden call's himself a free market centrist and he claims to have left wing social policy, and he has certainly supported Lgbtq+ rights in his law career and in his campaign in fact he has done so more than any other campaign besides Mandani. He calls for protections for POC and Trans people in New York City which is far more left wing then Cuomo, Adams and Sliwa, but he is also a staunch supporter of Israel's attempt at Genocide and called people who don't support them antisemitic and call's them supporters of terrorism. This is on a regular basis showing that this is not just a one-off mistake, this is his official take and places him along with Cuomo and Adams and somewhat right of Sliwa (Sliwa does have a history of antisemitic rhetoric). 

When talking about front-runner Mr Zohran Mandani Walden claimed the democrat was arguing for socialism. In fact the front-runner is pushing for basic centre left economic policy and some policies from Social Democracy, in other words not socialism. Walden stated that socialism was not for New York and not for America and that "we don't want to be like Cuba" a country currently embargoed by the United States and which hold's Guantanamo Bay. 

This appears to be a dig at Mandani's plan to tackle food deserts in NYC by opening up 5 food shop's that will be run by the state. Drawing comparisons to pictures of empty shelf's in the poor island of Cuba. This defense of capitalism should have everyone, capitalists included, bringing their Pam to their face. 

*One thing to note all candidates will be effected by Trump policy so this graph could shift if they buckle to presidential pressure

Walden is probably the closest to Mandani on social issues, but is the most right wing when it comes to the commitment to capitalism. Even more than the Republican Party candidate. While those who support capitalism may view this as a good thing, his apparent naivety will likely mean New York will be taken advantage of by capital owners.

When Mr Mandani won the Democratic Primary to the shock of pollsters, Walden claimed he knew Mandani was going to win and that the candidate with the most votes by October should say in the race while all three others should drop out to combat "socialism". Andrew Cuomo agreed (He was and is polling the best of all four) however with Adams and Sliwa staying in the race for, according to Walden, selfish reasons, he states he will not pull out until they agree to do the same.

Anyone Considering Voting For Mr Jim Walden should be aware that he is basically a never trump republican who does have positions that are to the left of the Democratic Party administration but his stances on policing, Israel and economics show a lack of understanding and a serious "simplicity" similarly to Eric Adams, Walden is man who does not seem to get many things.

In July 2025 while talking about his support for MMA (Mixed Martial Art's) he praised and cited his work defending a Far Right Fascist for assault, who had been found liable for rape a few months before. This was either incredibly careless or incredibly concerning (as of mid-August the video is still up on his Instagram)  and paired with his willingness to put Sex Pest Andrew Cuomo into office it undercuts his stated commitment to protect women.

His fanatical commitment to New York police shows an incredibly simplistic view of the issues that come with the NYPD. Some issues that other countries police departments don't even have to the same degree. 

For many New Yorker's his policies represent the idiocy of the elite in America a superior option to the hate mongering MAGA movement it may be but for all of it's plus's and there are many Walden is worse the better you get to know him.
